The sixth giveaway at this year’s Band of Bloggers is John MacArthur’s most recent (release date: April 1, 2008) book, A Tale of Two Sons, provided by Grace to You. Unpacking a popular passage in the Gospels, MacArthur brings his careful exegetical eye and expositional approach to provide biblical insight on our struggle with sin, the need for humble repentance, and the Father’s inexhaustible mercy and love. The Parable of the Prodigal Son reveals the beautiful feet of the gospel running for sinners–the gospel of which we are called to walk worthy.
I am deeply grateful for Grace to You for their generous contribution and partnership with Band of Blogger fellowship. May the Lord use this resource to rivet our hearts and awaken us to the pursuing mercy of our glorious Father!

The fifth giveaway, reThink by Steve Wright, comes from InQuest Ministries. This book seeks to challenge the current methods of student ministry while offering an overview of a biblical framework for ministry. Wright challenges churches to rethink how teenagers relate in a gospel-centered community where the fundamental relationships of family are emphasized rather than replaced. I am happy to commend this free book to all who attend this year’s Band of Bloggers fellowship as we consider how the gospel trust affects every area of church, ministry, and life–including teenagers.
Thank you, InQuest, for being such a generous supporter and partner with Band of Bloggers and The Gospel Trust! For more information about reThink, check out their upcoming conference scheduled for May 16 at Raleigh, NC.

The fourth book being given away to all attendees is the first of two newly published books in the stack of BoB goodies. Reformation Heritage Books has agreed to give everyone a free copy of Christ Is All: The Piety of Horatius Bonar by Michael A.G. Haykin and Darrin R. Booker. This book is the latest release in the “Profiles in Reformed Spirituality” and includes 65 excerpts from Bonar’s writings that capture his ardent devotion to the glory of Christ. Readers will also be interested in Haykin’s biographical introduction to Bonar, an eminent Scottish minister and poet.
I want to express my gratitude to RHB for their generous partnership with the 2008 Band of Bloggers fellowship. Dr. Haykin will also be participating in this years’ event, so the time of fellowship would also be a great opportunity to sign books and talk about “words to winners of souls” as Bonar would have it.

It’s hard to over-estimate the significance John Piper’s writing ministry has had on all of us today. According to Mark Dever, Desiring God is the most read book by those attending this year’s Together for the Gospel Conference. However, many may not be familiar with one of the more pastoral and very practical books from the pen of Piper–When I Don’t Desire God: How to Fight for Joy.
So I am happy to share with you that the third book being given away at the Band of Bloggers fellowship will be this book, which I believe, speaks much to treasuring the trust and persevering with joy the journey set before us.
Thank you, Desiring God, for partnering with the Band of Bloggers with such a significant contribution to all who attend our fellowship!
